Clothing: You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We recommended clothing that doesn’t restrict your movement and is breathable, such as fitness wear.
Footwear: Ballet slippers are best, but you can also wear socks or other types of dance shoes. Tap shoes should be worn for tap classes and whatever you are most comfortable in (i.e. tennis shoes, dance shoes, socks, bare feet) is appropriate for our Falls Prevention and Stretch and Strength classes.
Adult classes are currently offered exclusively on a ‘drop in’ basis. Therefore, you aren’t required to come every week. You will only be charged for the classes you attend. Falls Prevention classes are sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, free-of-charge.
If you are brand new to ballet or looking for more detailed and thorough instructions, we recommend our intro class options. If you have some knowledge of ballet or are looking to move at a faster pace, then the beginner or intermediate level classes are your options. You are welcome to self-place and pace yourself. You may always enroll in different classes and shift around as you see fit. We are always happy to help answer any questions, as well.
The intro level classes are for students who have never taken a ballet class and are not familiar with the terminology. Sometimes adults with experience do select this option when they want to ease back into ballet. The beginner level class is for students who have a baseline knowledge of ballet terminology, but want a slower paced class. Some people select this class for a challenge as they expand their knowledge and some people select this class as an additional option beyond our intermediate level class.
