Emergence series has ended. It featured the influential Agon, choreography by George Balanchine developed in tandem with Igor Stravinsky as he composed its music. Three world premieres were commissioned from acclaimed dancemakers. Adam Hougland, winner of the Princess Grace Award for Choreography and named one of Dance Magazine‘s “25 to Watch,” presented his world premiere, Newton’s Cradle. Love me anyway by Caili Quan and All the Bright Places by Stephanie Martinez were performed with grant support from Dance/USA’s BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Female Choreographers in Ballet Initiative, generously supported by the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation. Ms Martinez’s new work was also sponsored by Mr. Harvey Lynch.
