Cynthia Wuthmann
Director of Communications and Development
Cynthia Wuthmann is a dynamic collaborator whose career spans arts, entertainment, technology, and advocacy. She has worked with artists, filmmakers, developers and entrepreneurs to refine their vision and connect with audiences. A trailblazer in hi-tech and entertainment, she led initiatives for HP, Sony, Disney, and Apple. At Lucasfilm, she launched and directed distribution and international marketing for the Star Wars video game franchise.
At Smuin Ballet, she drove marketing, fundraising, and branding initiatives to help achieve record-breaking sales and contributed income. As Executive Producer of Not Another Ballet Story, she champions women choreographers on U.S. and international mainstages. She recognizes SacBallet for its leadership supporting women in dance.
A classically trained ballet dancer, she earned a full scholarship at 12 to train with Maria Tallchief. She also studied under Lou Conti, Ed Parish, Gus Giordano and Larry Long. At 17, she entered The University of Utah’s Ballet Department at an advanced level. She danced and performed with esteemed companies including Tallchief’s Lyric Opera Ballet, Chicago Ballet, Joffrey Ballet at Ravinia, and Willam F. Christensen’s Utah Opera Ballet, while also teaching ballet and choreographing for dance in public schools.
Cynthia is a Stanford Graduate School of Business guest speaker and CCSF Business Department faculty member, and the company she founded received U.S. Congressional Recognition for humane business practices and Marin Child Care Council’s Family- Friendly Business Award. Committed to equity in employment, housing, and education, Cynthia serves on the board of the Marin City Community Development Corporation. She runs trails with her golden retriever, takes dance classes, and skis in the Sierras and Wasatch. Fluent in French and Spanish, she holds a BA from The University of Utah and an MFA from USF.
