Sara Slocum
Sara Slocum has built a multifaceted and distinguished career. Originally from Grass Valley, CA Ms. Slocum earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from UC Davis. Following her graduation, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala, where she became fluent in Spanish. Upon returning to the United States, she began a career in Human Resources at the Smithsonian Institution. She subsequently held the position of Executive Assistant to the Dean of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University before transitioning to the role of Office Manager for an aerospace consulting firm on Capitol Hill.
Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open and manage a Curves Fitness Center for Women in London, England. Upon her return to California, she worked for the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science at UC Davis. Before joining Sacramento Ballet, she worked for four years as the Box Office and House Manager at Capital Stage. She has been with Sacramento Ballet since September 2016, initially joining as the Ticketing Manager. Her role expanded to include School Operations Manager in May 2018, and she was promoted to General Manager in 2021.
Throughout her life, Ms. Slocum has pursued a variety of enriching experiences. As a young adult, she spent five summers working as a lifeguard, taught English as a Second Language while living in Madrid, Spain, and instructed swimming in Côte d’Ivoire. Her passion for travel has taken her on adventures such as a six-week cycling tour of England. Currently, she enjoys volunteering as a crew member for a hot air balloon pilot, often rising before dawn on summer weekends to assist with flights—and occasionally, she gets to take to the skies herself.
